Almost every owner or CEO that I talk to starts the conversation with a disclaimer – something like this.

I know when I hear statements like this from prospects, they are experiencing pain. They know they need to work on it but they figure it’s going to cost them more than they can afford.
I get it. Usually, when a company starts to talk seriously to me, they need several things. First, they need a plan. They need a coordinator to make sure the plan is implemented and maintained. And then they need to develop either an email campaign, a Facebook page or maybe learn how to use LinkedIn effectively. Maybe it’s time for a website – or perhaps their website needs revision. Viewed collectively, the marketing plan seems both overwhelming and too expensive.
Make it easy, and affordable. Take one step at a time. Decide how much you can spend monthly and work with your marketing consultant to move forward. Begin with the plan and then start tackling each area one by one. Whether you’re working with a consultant for 3 hours a month or 10 hours a month, you’ll be surprised at what you can get done. And even more important, you’ll be pleased by the results.
A consistent effort will create buzz for your company. More and more people will start to hear about you and what you have to offer. Business grows. And the pain of not doing anything recedes. Because when you do something, no matter how small, potential customers start to hear about the good things you’re doing and you convert these prospects into real customers.
